A
Simple Favor is an extremely compelling thriller with a dark sense of humor.
This movie is about a mom who joins her best friends’ husband when she goes
missing. Anna Kendrick gives an incredible performance. She played the naiveté
of her character perfectly while also making us question her motives. Blake
Lively gives a fantastic performance. This is the best she has ever been and the
dynamic between her and Kendrick is a highlight. Henry Golding gives a great
performance as Lively’s husband. He had excellent chemistry with Lively and
Kendrick. Linda Cardellini also gave a good performance in a smaller role. Paul
Feig did a fantastic job directing. Immediately the film has a unique style
that immerses you in the world. The script is overall great with a few small
issues. The character development for the main cast is all fantastic and the
movie constantly kept me guessing. The film also has a dark sense of humor
which added a much-needed sense of fun. The first act, while never boring, is a
bit slow though. At 117 minutes the pacing is good and flies by once the second
act begins. Overall I had a blast watching A Simple Favor and recommend it to
thriller fans.
