Solo: A Star Wars Story Review

Solo: A Star Wars Story was a surprisingly great addition to the Star Wars universe. This movie is about Han Solo’s first job in the criminal underworld and how he became the character we know today. Alden Ehrenreich did an incredible job playing the title character. He is fully believable as a young Han Solo. Donald Glover gives a fantastic performance as a young Lando Calrissian. Emilia Clarke gave a good performance as Han’s childhood love. Woody Harrelson gives a great performance as Han’s mentor. Paul Bettany did a really good job playing the main antagonist of the movie. Phoebe Waller-Bridge did a decent job voicing L3 but her character was occasionally annoying. The direction by Ron Howard is strong especially during a thrilling train sequence. The script by Jonathan and Lawrence Kasdan was great minus a few forced moments of fan service. The visual effects are fantastic throughout. At 135 minutes this movie moves along at a good pace though it could lose 10 minutes. Overall Solo: A Star Wars Story was a surprisingly great movie I highly recommend.
8.5/10
